Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator

Schedule: Full-time, benefits-eligible positions. Typically Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm with some flexibility
Pay: $20 / hr

Benefits: Approximate benefits package value: $21,000

Volunteers of America, Utah builds a community-supported bridge that provides a path for those who are vulnerable to improve their lives and increase their self-reliance. Working in this role, you will be serving 300 paid employees who are serving our clients in our broad range of programs - from homeless outreach to outpatient behavioral health counseling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service on all payroll/accounting related questions from managers and employees.
  • Payroll
    • Process timesheets and payroll (biweekly), enter all related payroll changes while maintaining confidentiality of HR/Payroll information.
    • Calculate requests for additional checks due to pay corrections and terminations.
    • Prepare and process garnishments, Health Savings Account deposits.
    • Complete employment/income verifications.
    • Launch onboarding packets and follow the process through to completion.
  • Benefits
    • Explain insurance benefits to new and existing employees.
    • Allocate benefit insurance costs across programs.
  • Perform other duties related to the Human Resources function as assigned.


  • 6 months of payroll experience and one year of office experience.
  • Understanding of payroll processes. Experience with Paylocity helpful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Patient and possess a good sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
