Pay: $18/hr

Volunteers of America, Utah builds a community-supported bridge that provides a path for those who are vulnerable to improve their lives and increase their self-reliance.

Our Case Managers perform rewarding social service work at the Center for Women and Children (CWC) in Murray, a social model detoxification facility that provides a safe place to stay for women withdrawing from alcohol or drugs. During their stay women will have the opportunity to meet with a case manager to discuss their eligibility for substance abuse treatment, as well as get connected to other needed resources. Clients at the CWC receive 3 meals a day, access to an outdoor area, and are able to attend supportive programming activities, including recovery-focused support groups and working in our onsite garden. This position will provide consistent individualized case management services to female clients and their accompanying children in a detoxification setting while utilizing trauma informed practices.

  • Identify special needs (pregnant, IV/IM Drug users, dual diagnosis, medical conditions, women with children) and coordinate services as needed.
  • Develop referral plans to refer clients to appropriate treatment facilities and/or other community resources.
  • When appropriate, work with clients’ families to move clients into self-sufficiency.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Develop positive relationships with referral resources.
  • Provide weekly Seeking Safety groups for clients.
  • Participate and present client information at case reviews with other case managers and Program Director.
  • Document all case management services provided to clients.
  • Contribute to an environment of mutual trust and respect by treating others fairly, demonstrating empathy, and effectively managing interpersonal conflict to preserve constructive, professional relationships.
  • Participate in Management On-Call Schedule  
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in the field of social services and two years of work experience in the substance abuse treatment field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Training and/or understanding in the Trauma Informed Approach, Motivational Interviewing, Trans Theoretical Model - Stages of Change.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness.
  • Maintain good boundaries and confidentiality
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; flexibility to respond to changes.
  • Organize, prioritize and independently complete multiple tasks.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
