Description
Develop, implement, and conduct agency-wide training programs for employees and managers. Work with employees who care about the work that they do and the clients they serve. Handle other human resource functions as assigned.

Volunteers of America, Utah provides a bridge to self-reliance and health for vulnerable individuals and populations who struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness in our Wasatch Front communities.

Essential Duties
  • Plans, organizes, and effectively conducts employee training on various skill, policy, and compliance topics; including new hire orientation and customer service.
  • Delivers classroom training for newly hired and existing employees using adult learning methodologies and practices.
  • Works with agency program directors and managers to identify areas in which training is required and/or beneficial and then addresses those areas.
  • Develops agency-wide training curriculum to motivate staff, support the agency’s strategic goals, and meet legal requirements for annual trainings, (harassment, diversity, boundaries, de-escalation, etc.).
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback and makes modifications.
  • Maintains records of training activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Schedules training, sets up training rooms, prepares and distributes handouts, and performs other related tasks.
  • Performs other human resource functions as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, education or a related field and two years of related experience required or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Experience developing training curriculum and presenting in a group/classroom setting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Team orientation and willingness to assist in areas outside of the normal scope of position.
  • Organized, self-starter with ability to initiate and carry out assignments, meet deadlines, and follow through to completion.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Use personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
  • Possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record and be insurable on the agency liability policy.
  • Pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary: $45,000 per year
