Description

Effectively engage and coordinate volunteers and maintain community/agency relationships, while assisting with management of VOA Utah in-kind donation program at the Geraldine E. King Women's Resource Center. 

Essential Duties

  1. Develop positive relationships with center volunteers and respond to volunteer inquiries for the agency by the end of the next scheduled shift.
  2. Schedule and/or conduct center volunteer “meet and greets” as well as tours as required and on a regularly scheduled basis.
  3. Maintain volunteer information in the Volgisitics data program for each volunteer; ensure volunteers are signing in and out as well as filling out the Liability Release form; maintain all necessary logs and reports for partnering agencies and VOA; complete and submit in a timely manner.
  4. Welcome and orient volunteers at the beginning of their volunteer shift to review client boundaries, expectations, confidentiality, and volunteer policies at the Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center. Conduct volunteer orientations for program volunteers as needed.
  5. Schedule volunteers for donation pickups, class facilitation, meal service, and other daily center activities as assigned.
  6. Work closely with the Kitchen Staff to ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and stocked for volunteer groups. Conduct volunteer groups in the kitchen in the possible absence of Kitchen Staff including regular meal service duties.
  7. Lead volunteers in the in-kind donation areas; leading volunteers; helping volunteers accept and sort items, stocking shelves, rooms and closets, stocking pantry, and stocking clothing area; clean and organize all donation storage areas.
  8. Reach out to the community to educate and procure donations/volunteers as directed by the Volunteer Engagement Director.
  9. Work collaboratively with Program Manager at the Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center when placing volunteers in programs.
  10. Schedule food/donation pickups within the community and act as point of contact for partnering agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, parks and recreation, hospitality or a similar field or equivalent required or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
 

  1. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation with an emphasis on meeting or exceeding volunteer expectations.
  2. Volunteer coordinator experience preferred.
  3. Obtain and keep current Utah Food Handlers Permit
  4. Work effectively and ethically with a diverse group of people.
  5. Maintain appropriate, professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and co-workers.
  6. Exhibit clear communication skills and cooperate with others.
  7. Consider alternatives and consequences before making independent decisions.
  8. Ability to lift donations up to 25 lbs.
  9. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (no DUI within 5 years, no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years)
  10. Comfortable interacting in a professional manner with team members, a diverse workforce, donors, and outside agencies.
  11. Enthusiastic, organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
  12. Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  13. Standard schedule is four 10-hour days including one weekend shift.
  14. Vacation coverage for team members required as scheduled.

$15.00/hr
