Description
At the Youth Resource Center, connect Volunteers of America, Utah to the religious community to help meet the spiritual needs of homeless youth on their journey to self-sufficiency. Provide youth opportunities to explore the religious community, connect with their own spiritual belief system, worship, and receive spiritual counseling. Effectively engage the religious community in volunteer service at the Youth Resource Center. Oversee the in-kind donation center. Work cooperatively with other Volunteer Coordinators. The individual in this position should be connected to their own spiritual belief system.  
  • Lead and conduct community engagement activities with the religious community and Coalition of Religious Communities and the Interfaith Council; make presentations and attend meetings, services, events, etc. .
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers to lead spiritual and religious studies programs and services, donation pickups, meal preparation and other daily center activities. 
  • Act as point of contact for all religious groups and respond to inquiries within 24 hours. 
  • Conduct center "meet and greets" for all religious affiliated volunteers as well as provide tours as required.
  • Act as lead Volunteer Coordinator in the in-kind donation areas.
  • Be available for occasional weekend or evening volunteer or speaking events.
  • Maintain necessary volunteer records and files.
  • Generate reports on volunteer activity.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in religious studies, marketing, business, parks and recreation, hospitality or a similar field and experience organizing and directing people or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Volunteer coordinator experience preferred.
  • Work effectively and ethically with a diverse group of people.
  • Maintain appropriate, professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Exhibit clear communication skills and cooperate with others.
  • Consider alternatives and consequences before making independent decisions..
  • Collaborative team player who takes direction well.
  • Ability to lift donations up to 15 lbs.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record (no DUI within 5 years, no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Full-time. Must work one weekend day. Some evenings and holidays. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
