Description
Provides quality, evidence-based strategies to at-risk children, youth and families to reduce risk factors such as early initiation of substance abuse, violence, and other problem behaviors.
- Facilitate small skills groups with targeted high-risk youth and conduct individual family support and parenting classes with selected families
- Coordinate with community partners to schedule program services
- Prepare program lessons, pack and transport materials for groups
- Administer and collect program evaluation instruments
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Educational Psychology, Health Education or related field of study (equivalent work experience in a full-time, education-related position will be considered)
- Experience teaching classes and facilitating small groups, particularly with individuals of various economic, social and ethnic backgrounds
- Self-starter with a team mentality and the ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, adapt to change, handle stressful situations and respond appropriately to crisis.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literate with the ability to operate audio-visual equipment
- Lift and carry program materials (approximately 20 pounds)
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide a reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Pass criminal background check and drug screen
Part-time position, 20 hours per week. Work hours determined by the needs of the program. Late afternoon and evening work may be required.
$16.50 per hour
